We rented the Rancho Mojave casita through VRBO.com, a home rental site. The hideaway on a dirt road in the Rimrock area, had a kitchen and two beds: one queen, squeezed into an alcove inside the front door, and a king in a room just off the kitchen. The bedroom offered desert views through sliding patio doors. With the morning sun warming our bones, I found it an inviting spot to lounge. The rest of the casita, appointed in Southwestern style with hard, wood chairs, one sofa bed and a TV with DVDs

Magnificent location

My congratulations to the owners! We will definitely come back to this wonderful place. (We were a group of 4 women, 1 American and 3 Europeans who are seasoned travellers). Beautiful surroundings and a beautiful house. In fact the interiors are much more heartwarming, comfortable and appealing than the pictures depict. And the hosts,Cecilia and Ron, are as welcoming and friendly as the house. The amenities were ample, the beds were made including the sofa bed which allows for an extra 2 people to sleep beside the 2 queen size beds/rooms. Everything was very clean. The kitchen containing everything you need to prepare a full meal, microwave, toaster, water-kettle etc., also the basics (like salt and pepper and so on). So, all in all, a truly enjoyable stay. A place to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, a place to unwind, and to reconnect. Away from the noise. This house and surroundings are lovingly taken care off, with a lot of heart, and you can feel it! En-joy!!!

Gorgeous Desert House

Fantastic little house in the middle of the high desert, but near enough drive to the wonderful Pappy & Harriet's and Joshua Tree. Photo's represent the property well and everything was clean and perfect. Would totally recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all. Owners Cecilia and Ron were so helpful and informative and made us very welcome.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely stay at Rancho Mojave. The property is beautiful and our stay was very relaxing. We were woken each morning to the sunrise and sounds of nearby owls and coyotes. I would certainly return.

Ronald and Cecilia were extremely hospitable and friendly and the casita is a beautiful building. All of Rancho Mojave has beautiful and commanding views of Morongo and Yucca Valleys as well as up toward Big Bear Moutain. It is extremely quiet out there and the stars are amazing on a clear night. They even have a hammock at the top of a rise overlooking the valley. It is a very peaceful getaway.

Dear Cecilia & Ron,

Rancho Mojave holds much magic for the visitors lucky enough to stumble upon it. I am sitting, as i write this, in your sacred hammock- a spot where i experienced perhaps the most peaceful and quiet moments i have ever known. Even our 4 year old, Cyrus, kept remarking on the peaceful nature of the desert and la casita. Coming from a four year old--this says a lot! We thank you for your warm hospitality and for the opportunity to "meet" the desert. This has been a marvelous way to welcome a new decade and to celebrate our family.

Affectionately, Alexandra, Nils, Cyrus & Celeste

As we drove out of the storm into Morongo Valley, a double rainbow appeared in the sky. This evening I sit on the back porch with a cup of hot chocolate & gaze up at the moon. Ryan relaxes in the couch watching "Hairspray". My soul returns to me...

There is magic here. I took a walk by moonlight last night before retiring; the moon was so bright it lit the desert painting it silver so no flashlight was necessary. My bladder woke me at 3:00 and the silence was so profound it felt like an awareness, a listening, able to receive all of my nightmares and dreams.

I am not sure which I prefer; the moonlight night or the glorious mornings, waking up to a desert sunrise while cuddled in luxurious linens and down comforter. How generous to share your treasures with complete strangers!

I am drinking my coffee on the porch that shelters one from the wind; but there is no wind this morning, only clouds rolling in. I am afraid we take the sun of us. Georgia O'Keefe came to the desert to paint. The desert fathers found God here. I am here for respit, for sanity and these I have found along with peace. This Thanksgiving my heart overflows with gratitude. Blessing on your home.

May you be safe, healthy, happy, live at ease.
